Experience of the Week: Georgia Naturalist RallyGeorgia Naturalist Rally

A rally brings people together for a common cause. This rally was all about nature. So many sessions on a beautiful day had everyone talking about what they saw and sighing in contentment. The good lunch and snacks certainly helped.  Our main goal was to get people to explore some new areas of the Park in the Natural District. The Songbird Habitat meadow was in fine form for birdwalks and butterfly sightings.   Many on the tree Hike, wildflower hike, or mushroom hike at the Harold Cox Nature Garden said they had never been on that trail. Others chose to hike the mountain to learn about the geology or around the lake for exercise and great views of the water.  Because the Park is so big some people made new friends as they planned carpooling to different sessions.   The inside, seated talks were well received since they gave time for more in-depth learning about pollinators. A small group stayed for the evening reception and Porch Light Insect talk, but you can also learn about this topic. The Georgia Naturalist Rally was certainly the nature experience of the week for all involved.

Evening Program

An enjoyable evening presentation of "Porch Light Insects" by Larry McDaniel.  Larry provided us with a stunning slide show of an array of creatures attracted to his porch light set-up.  If you were unable to attend, here is a recap of the evening
