Monthly Field Excursions for EEA Members

Get outdoors on a field trip with fellow EEA members! We have scouted some of the best natural spots in the Southeast to visit. Trips are available to EEA members and one guest. If you are not currently a member, you may join EEA when you register.

Kayak Trip on Lake Allatoona into Allatoona Creek

Acworth, Georgia

Flatwater both ways (no current). Stop and get out on a tiny island for a picnic lunch and some hammock time.

 

 

Saturday, May 19th, 9:00am-3:00pm

Whitewater Rafting Trip on the Chattahoochee River

Columbus, Georgia

Rafting, optional zip lining across the river, and lunch at a café on the waterfront.

 

 

 

 

Saturday, July 21st, 8:30am-2:30pm

Hiking in Providence Canyon State Outdoor Recreation Area

Lumpkin, Georgia

Look for the rare plumleaf azalea, Rhododendron prunifolium, which blooms in the lower canyon in July and August.

Kayak Trip on Nickajack Lake to See Gray Bats

Jasper, Tennessee

Paddle across the lake to Nickajack Cave to see 30,000 gray bats emerge. Paddle under a full moon back to Shellmound Campground.

 

 

 

 

Friday, November 2nd, 9:00am-3:00pm

Kayak Trip on Satilla River

Waycross, Georgia

Paddle downstream, shuttle back, then join us for the annual Georgia Association of Marine Education (GAME) conference thru November 4th.

 
 
To register:

Registration deadline for each trip is 10 days prior to the trip. Minimum age is 14 years old. Each field trip requires a $20.00 registration fee. This fee includes guide service. You are responsible for your own meals, lodging, entrance fees, etc.

For kayak trips, if you want to rent a single sea kayak the cost is $25.00 for one day and $40.00 for two days. Rental includes kayak, life vest, paddle, and dry bag. Sonya will need your height and weight to fit you for a kayak. Pay Sonya for kayak rental when you arrive at the trip site.
