ATEEG 2026 Graduates: Kasey Bozeman, Rachael Osborne, Laila Hudda, Charlee Glenn, and Heather Hayes
Advanced Training for Environmental Education in GA (ATEEG)
Environmental educators fill many roles and work with a variety of audiences to build awareness about our environmental issues, boost confidence in using appropriate skills to address environmental concerns, and encourage others to take action in their local communities. ATEEG's nationally-accredited, professional certification program in environmental education is intended for you, the formal educator or the non-formal educator. But this certification is not limited to a K-12 educator. Other EE leaders can also benefit from professional EE Certification including education administrators, EE curriculum developers, cultural and/or environmental interpreters, sustainability educators, environmental and/or conservation professionals, state and county agents, Extension office staff, faith-based organization leaders, EE non-profits, parks and recreation/outdoor education organizations, youth program leaders, Girl and Boy Scouts leaders, citizen science programs, or other professionals working or volunteering in the environmental and outdoor learning field. Having EE Certification can advance your career, promote environmental literacy, improve the quality of environmental education in your organization or local community, and support professionalism in the field of environmental education. Georgia's EE certification is founded on the Environmental Educator Knowledge and Skills: Guidelines for Excellence developed by the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE). The ATEEG program is offered through the Environmental Education Alliance (EEA) in partnership with the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia. |
We are building a professional community in the field of environmental education and invite you to join us! |
EE Certification Requirements:The ATEEG program is comprised of three parts that provide participants instructional content, professional development, and independent work. Independent Study The Independent Study is the culminating project that allows EE Certification candidates to apply and demonstrate their EE knowledge and skills in an area of interest. The candidate starts the Independent Study process after having completed all three (3) core courses. ATEEG runs a Zoom mini-workshop during the summer months to talk specifically about the EE Certification requirement.
