Jas Darland (M.A. Johns Hopkins 2009) is the founder and director of The Garden School of Marietta. Through an inquiry-based nature-immersion education inspired by the Waldorf/Steiner approach, students meet high academic, social, and artistic standards in classrooms roofed by the sky. Georgia's first forest school, The Garden School is a progressive community of parents and educators who believe in preserving childhood, and providing space for students' highest selves to unfold. Jas is also a member of the Coalition to End Corporal Punishment in GA Public Schools, and the Atlanta-area EcoVillage Initiative. She enjoys gardening, fermentation, painting, and making music with her husband and two daughters.
