Introduction to Environmental Literacy

ATEEG Hybrid Core Course 1

​Course Dates: February 12 - 28 (Online Modules) + Thursday, February 29 (All-day, In-Person Workshop)
In-Person Workshop:   Brunswick/Jekyll Island, GA area
Cost:  $170 for EEA members ; $200 for non-members

Individuals seeking Professional Environmental Educator Certification need to complete three (3) foundational courses as part of the requirements for graduation.   This course is 1 of the 3 main courses in the ATEEG series.  This Introduction to Environmental Literacy course is conducted in a hybrid format with asynchronous, online course work taking place before the in-person workshop led by our instructors.  

All participants are expected to complete both the online module work and attend/participate in the in-person workshop taking place in Brunswick,  GA.   Participants are responsible for securing their own lodging, if needed.  We are happy to provide recommendations if you need any.   Lunch will be provided on Thursday, February 29th.  

The in-person workshop will run from 8:30am - 5pm on February 29.  Participants and instructors will meet at 8:30am to begin the day at the Golden Isles Clean and Beautiful location (1229 Newcastle Street, Brunswick, GA @ Old City Hall).  The morning will be spent moving around in the local area (field).  The afternoon will consist of classroom discussion and activities.   

This in-person workshop is being hosted in collaboration with EEA, Gardens for Growing Community,  the Gwinnett Soil & Water Conservation District, Golden Isles Clean and Beautiful, and the Glynn Environmental Coalition.                                                

After your registration and payment have been received for this ATEEG hybrid core course, the ATEEG Program Administrator will contact you via email and/or phone with additional details about getting started online.

From Friday, March 1 - Sunday, March 3, the Environmental Education Alliance (EEA) will be hosting its 2024 Annual Conference at Jekyll Island.  Those attending the conference will be able to apply conference hours (max. 10 hours) spent in sessions towards their professional development hours' requirement for ATEEG-EE certification.   In addition, participants in this core course, who want to attend the EEA Annual Conference, are eligible to receive a discount code for the lowest possible conference registration rate.  The ATEEG Program Administrator can assist with your conference registration, if interested.  Click here for more information about the 2024 EEA Conference,  

As for ATEEG's Introduction to Environmental Literacy course, all candidates are required to maintain active EEA memberships.
