EEA AWARD NOMINATIONS

General Nomination Information

The nominator must be an EEA member or have a co-nominator who is a member. Members of an organization may submit more than one nomination for an individual or organization. ​You will be asked to provide the following information as part of the nomination (please do not exceed word limits where provided):
​​
  • The nominator's name, mailing address, email address, and phone number
  • If the nominator is not a current EEA member, the name of a co-nominator who is a current EEA member
  • The name of the person or organization being nominated (as it should appear on the award), mailing address, email address, and phone number
  • The name of the award for which you are nominating the individual or organization
  • A brief summary of accomplishments of person or organization nominated (50-word limit)
  • An explanation of accomplishments of person or organization nominated (500-word limit) including: (1) When the accomplishments were made, and (2) Why, specifically, you believe the accomplishments represent distinguished service to the cause of EE or EE research

Award Categories

Dr. Eugene Odum Lifetime Service

The person receiving this award must be an active EEA member with at least five years of membership, have made a significant contribution to EE, and should be known for one or more of the following:
  • Leadership contributions to the field of EE in addition to contributions emanating directly from either his or her salaried duties or in a volunteer capacity
  • Clear recognition of her or his overall contributions among EE colleagues and within EEA
  • Served at least 15 years in the field of EE

PK-16 Formal Educator of the Year

The person receiving this award does not have to be an active EEA member, but must have made a significant contribution to EE in one or more of the following ways:
  • Clear recognition of her or his overall contributions among EE colleagues within Georgia
  • Visible contributions to the field of EE (e.g., research, legislation, publications, teaching)
  • Demonstrated innovation in incorporating EE into lesson plans
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring colleagues and students to use the environment as a context for learning

Outstanding Service to EE by an Individual 

The person receiving this award does not have to be an active EEA member, but must have made a significant contribution to EE and should be known for one or more of the following:
  • Visible contributions in EE (e.g., research, innovations, curricula, legislation, publications, teaching)
  • Dedicated service in the field of EE in Georgia
  • Outstanding environmental action, contribution, or stance by a person whose primary function is not environmental (e.g., a politician supportive of EE programs or legislation)
  • Excellence in reporting environmental issues for the purpose of educating the public, in print or electronic media (e.g., a writer; newspaper, radio, or television program that regularly gives space or time to present environmental information in such a way as to educate over a period of time; or any network, foundation, or entity that makes such reporting possible)

Outstanding Service to EE by an Organization

The organization receiving this award does not have to be an active EEA organizational member, but must have made a significant contribution to EE and should be known for one or more of the following:
  • Visible contributions in EE (e.g., research, innovations, curricula, legislation, publications, teaching)
  • Dedicated service in the field of EE in Georgia
  • Outstanding environmental action, contribution, or stance by an organization whose primary function is not environmental (e.g., a political group that is supportive of EE programs or legislation)
  • Excellence in reporting environmental issues for the purpose of educating the public, in print or electronic media (e.g., a writer; newspaper, radio, or television program that regularly gives space or time to present environmental information in such a way as to educate over a period of time; or any network, foundation, or entity that makes such reporting possible)
